luckily the engine gasket should only cost bout 12 bucks. it really isn't hard to change and you could probably do it by yourself with basic socket wrenchs and no special tools. Buy a do it yourself type book for your car and it will explain step by step how to change it, the cost that a company would charge is all for labor etc and they will hit you high $$$. Basically you just gotta take the top half of your engine off and replace the 12 dollar seal. I did one on my car when i was 18 and i know nothing about cars. not really a patch to fix it because your engine gets so hot it would melt any type of patch etc. Save the money, you can do it.
