The %26quot;blown head gasket%26quot; can mean a lot of things but it usually means your engine is fried or damaged. Chances are good that you might need to do a lot more than replace the gasket. You often are looking at a total engine replacement.

Tony is correct. If you are asking this question, it would be unwise to try to tackle the job without a LOT of assistance. This is not a %26quot;minor%26quot; job on any vehicle. How much would it cost to fix blown head gasket?
If you just do a %26quot;slip and slide%26quot;, basically just replace the gasket. It will most likely do the same thing down the road. The correct solultion is to have the block and head checked for warpage (very common on aluminum heads). If either one are warped, then they need to be machined and trued. Not sure what the cost would be, check with your dealships for a reputable local machineist and have him check out the head and block and write up an estimate. How much would it cost to fix blown head gasket?

OK, first of all, is it a 4 of 6 cyl.? and dont believe it when they say the engine is toast. the 4 cyl that came in that truck is one of the best engines ever to be manufactured. but i cant lie, the head gasket job is no joke. there are timing issues that need to be understood, and the head and block need to be checked for warppage. other than that, all it takes is understanding of nuts and bolts and tourque sequences. $30-50 from your local parts disributor. How much would it cost to fix blown head gasket?
